A new zebra was born at Bad Pyrmont Zoo

Bad Pyrmont (dpa / lni) – The Tierpark Bad Pyrmont is happy about the offspring. As the zoo announced, at the end of February a new zebra was born. The animal is healthy and happy. According to the zoo, the as-yet-unnamed stallion belongs to the Böhm Plains zebra breed, which originally lives in East Africa.

Because zebras are flying animals, the animal was able to stand on its own feet shortly after birth, zoo director Linus Kampe said. The newborn follows its mother Latisha or may be found with other zebras or antelope.

“It really messes with the system sometimes,” the director said. However, in between, the zebra also needs to rest and sleep. However, the animal should not feel too comfortable in the zoo. “Since we don’t want inbreeding, young animals are given to other zoos after about a year,” Kampe said.
