Bad Fallingbostel (dpa / lni) – A 65-year-old resident died in a fire at a homeless shelter in Bad Fallingbostel (Heidekreis district). The cause of the fire was still unclear as of Thursday morning, a police spokesman said. According to the fire department, the man could only be rescued dead from the fire department on the upper floor on Wednesday afternoon.
A police patrol that arrived first freed another resident from his ground-floor apartment. However, the officials were unable to enter the upper floor due to the strong development of the fire. The affected apartment was completely burned.
A large number of rescuers were deployed to the fire, including around 120 firefighters and several police patrols. As announced by the fire brigade, the other residents of the accommodation were first housed elsewhere by the public order office.
