15,300 people in Braunschweig take part in the garbage collection campaign

Braunschweig (dpa/lni) – More than 15,300 people collected garbage in Braunschweig on Saturday. According to administration estimates, a total of 35 tons of waste were collected during the so-called city cleaning day. “It’s great to see how the city’s society approaches things together,” said Mayor Thorsten Kornblum (SPD). Despite all the campaigns to avoid waste and the good disposal offers, the waste kept finding its way into nature. The city’s clean-up day also raises awareness of this problem.

On Friday, around 11,500 children and young people had already cleaned the area around their nurseries and schools. The action day had been canceled in the last two years due to corona. Now it took place in the most beautiful spring weather.
