Cryptocurrency exchange FTX has chosen Japanese professional tennis player Naomi Osaka as its ambassador.
In recent days, the FTX platform has seen a notable expansion in its activities, as it obtained a license for it in Dubai, in addition to its expansion in Europe.
Osaka will receive a stake in FTX as part of the deal, in addition to receiving additional compensation.
The tennis star joins the lineup of celebrities who have taken to the podium, including NBA star Stephen Curry, legendary player Tom Brady and his model wife Gisele Bundchen.
Osaka is expected to focus on making the cryptocurrency industry more attractive to young women. You’ll be tasked with producing content that caters to that specific demographic, while also highlighting your role in the thriving Web3 ecosystem.
Osaka will also highlight the global nature of cryptocurrencies.
In her statement, the world number one tennis player pointed to the fact that very few women are involved in cryptocurrencies. She said that she believes this kind of gender disparity is “reminiscent of inequality” in other financial markets.
She indicated that she would like to help break down the barriers to entry and that, by taking on the role of ambassador for FTX, she wants to further “democratize” the cryptocurrency space.
The 24-year-old tennis star launched his first set of non-fungible NFTs in partnership with Autograph, Brady’s NFT platform.
Osaka, who has overtaken Serena Williams as the highest-paid tennis star in the world, has also revealed her interest in Dogecoin.
It is worth noting that as more celebrities join the cryptocurrency journey, regulators are becoming increasingly concerned. European Union authorities warned about cryptocurrency-related celebrity endorsements last week.
